Bairnsdale Secondary College is a public co-educational secondary school located in Bairnsdale, Victoria, Australia. As of 2010 the school has approximately 1,100 students from Year 7 to year 12.[1]

Bairnsdale Secondary College is the largest provider of education in East Gippsland. It has two campuses located on a 42 Ha site in West Bairnsdale and a third campus in Bairnsdale. It has a large range of course options with students able to choose from VCE, VET and VCAL courses as well as combinations of each. It has an indigenous focus and Koorie Education is one of the priority areas specialising in student management, attendance and achievement.[2]

About the school

A new science centre offers a unique opportunity for secondary students to examine the environment on their doorstep as well as the indigenous culture of the area.[3]

Bairnsdale secondary college has four main bands consisting of the junior band, intermediate band, senior band and swing band all performing locally and interstate every year.

History

Bairnsdale Secondary College opened its doors in 1912 as Bairnsdale High School. In 2012 the school will celebrate its 100th Anniversary. [4]
